Birthday Cake Day

Two days late, but who doesn't love to celebrate their birthday again. Because of our crazy schedule recently and lil Mr. so tired at the end of the day, Caelan hasn't been able to enjoy his birthday cake. So today, after breakfast, we had another party. Believe it or not, as you can see, Caelan didn't like the cake. Wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Shawn told Caelan, if that were your Mommy sitting there that cake would be gone in a heartbeat. I let Caelan know, not to worry I would help him finish eating his cake, hee!

A Special Birthday Greeting

I had to share this, it was sent from Karen, Eric, Megan, Tyler and Emily. It's just a snippet of the wonderful things Caelan received on his special day. Personally I thought the twins have the best voices. (Caelan agreed!)

Aug 27 Happy First Birthday Caelan

Gettin ready for his birthday breakfast. French toast, his Fav!
All the gear is on.....
Opening gifts. The paper was more exciting then the contents!
Caelan and Daddy whoop it up!

Well, we really can't believe a wonderful year has passed. Every single second spent with Caelan or awaiting to be with him has been a gift. He is so fun to be around and constantly making us proud. He's such a curious little man these days, keeping us on our toes! (as I write this, he has a rolling pin in one hand and trying to squeeze his body and the rolling pin between the dinning room chair and table, such determination. Ha!)

Caelan's special day began with a yummy breakfast of cinnamon raisin french toast. He loves it so much I can't cut the pieces as quick as he eats them. Then we had Caelan time. Lots of playing, whatever he wanted to do, including lots of chasing. Out for a long nap. Then out for an adventure to the grocery store. (Caelan's special request.) Actually we were going to go to the zoo, but mom was feeling under the weather. Rain check! We made it home and enjoyed a fun dinner of Chicago style dogs and fries. (Ok Mom's cravings some time win out, hee). Caelan was so sleepy after dinner we decided to postpone the cake til a later more chipper time.

Each moment that day was so special, all family and friends called to sing Happy Birthday to Caelan. We received so many wonderful gifts and cards. Thank you everyone for being such a big part of Caelan's day!

Gettin' Ready

Caelan and I have been organizing, going thru clothes and packing, getting ready for our big move next week. (We're moving to a new BIGGER apartment, Yipee!) So I found some of Caelan's winter clothes from last year and he begged me to try it on. Last winter this hat was so big, his little eyes would peek out from under the rim. Now it fits perfect and we're ready for the big snow!! (But I think we'll have to go to Chicago for that.)

The Bears Season Has Begun

Last Thursday we celebrated the beginning of Bear's season in style.
They played the 49'ers, to our dismay, the Bears lost.
But we're hopeful for an exciting season!

A Fun Day!

Caelan and I had a good day today! We had a healthy breakfast of Irish Oatmeal and yogurt then bananas, of course. He faught off the morning nap but was still in semi-good spirits. We had a fun playgroup with our friends from the South Arlington Mom's group. Caelan loves playing with the kids and Mr. Magellan loves exploring around our host's home. While he was playing, he decided he wanted to stand, by HIMSELF! While standing there he had the proudest smile on his face. He knew it was a magical moment. He stood there for the longest time I've seen yet. (I was verklempt) We came home for a quick lunch then off to dreamland for a 3 hour nap! (Yipee) I was able to sqeeze one in myself. After the nap we adventured out to Del Ray, a cute little neighborhood by us. We took a break at a fun coffeeshop called St. Elmos. We sat outside sharing a muffin and talking about all the doggies and birds we saw. When we got home the wrestling match was on...Caelan and I chased each other around and under the table, through the toys, over the river and through the woods.....until he worked up a fabulous appetite. He ate an entire fillet of Orange Ruffy, 1/4 sweet potato and a bowl of Gerber oatmeal. Whew, if eats like this now.....
He was getting tuckered out, but we squeezed in a bath, a story, prayers and a song before his peepers gently closed. Mmmmmm.

Today put a smile on my face.

Mom's Group Birthday Bash

Jason, Caelan, Adelyn, Sophie and Maggie
The same group shot we took on the couch in February on Valentine's Day
(Wow, have they grown!)
Carrie got newborn photos of all the little ones and made a wonderful wall of memories. (I had to hold back my tears.)

Caelan scoping out "The Party Room"

Can you believe the hats are on? (okay, not all are on, one is being eaten, hee)

Each babe got their very own cupcake and Happy Birthday tune sung to them.

What a special day today! We celebrated all the first birthdays. They all are so close in age, a couple weeks apart, we decided to throw one big party for all of them. They had so much fun. Carrie decorated the room beautifully and all the moms brought yummy treats for babes and moms alike. We reminisced a lot....Oh when we first met, the babies just sat there and the moms chatted it up. And now, we all are running in every direction chasing our little one as we yell to each other across the room. Ha! We really have made some close friends and look forward to many more birthdays together!

Haircut Number 2, (but Mommies first attempt)

Yes, he was gettin a little shaggy. As Shawn says,
people were throwing rocks and starting to call him a hippy.

TaaaaDaaaa.

There was so much hair everywhere when I was done, I used everything in my arsenal to keep him distracted and still. Poor thing he had hair on his sippy cup, in his snacks, all over his books and toys, I didn't know that boy had that much hair. After the snipping I stripped off every stitch of clothes and directly into the tub he went.

Music Class

For the past eight weeks, Caelan and I have been going to "Music Together", a class for families and babes to get an introduction to music. The first class Caelan was a little nervous, but he grew to love the classes. We learned so many fun songs and got to tinker with different instruments and shakers. At the end of every class the teacher would go around to each child to give them the opportunity to strum the guitar strings if they dared.
Now and then when its nap time or changing time he loves to sing the songs he's learned from the class, he has all the words memorized (even though I don't recognize them) and sometimes he even brings out his guitar or symbols to play as he sings. He's so gifted, we expect many great Vegas acts in his future!

Mr. Trouble

The second he hears the fridge door open, no matter where he is
in the apartment, he is here in a flash!

Always so curious, and now he's stuck. He had to yell for help to get out.
Bathtime
Awwwww, Our little Angel!

He's always trying to figure out how papa puts those holes in the Cheerios.
