Searching for shark teeth7/24 & 7/25/09 Family trip to Chesapeake Bay Beach and the Calvert Cliffs beach. The only thing I asked for for my birthday was a fun overnight trip with our family, and wow was it incredible. We stayed at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Resort and Spa, our room was right on the water! The view was amazing, so much so, that we pretty much set up camp on the balcony and didn't leave. We did manage to pull ourselves away for a couple hours the first day on a mission to go on a "little walk" along the water. We asked the valet outside our hotel if there was a boardwalk nearby since they had a "Boardwalk Cafe". They did not have a boardwalk, but there was one nearby which lead to a beach. The directions she gave us made it sound like it was just a block or two down the road. Yeeeeeaaaaah riiiiiiiiigggghhht! We head out, first walking about a 1/2 mile through a community of rental properties and finally getting to a boardwalk that was probably a full mile long. We couldn't believe how stinkin long this boardwalk was. I was totally unprepared, no water, no extra sunscreen, thinking we were going for a quick jaunt. We finally arrived at the beach, a cute little thing, families playing and a couple people lounging. After a couple minutes in the blazing sun we decided it was time to turn around and walk back. That night we did not leave the hotel room, we ordered food and spent the rest of the evening on the balcony. It was heaven! The following morning we awoke to the spectacular view, it was even harder to pull ourselves away. We ate a yummy breakfast at a nearby restuarant right on the water. Our table was 10ft from all the fishing boats. Very cool! That day we drove out to the Calvert Cliffs State Park. We hiked on the two mile path out to the beach, Caelan and MaKenna were both troopers! They both took turns carrying Shawn and I, they're stronger than they look! The beach was nice, lots of people looking for fossils, sharks teeth etc. on the shore. But man was it hot! MaKenna and I made a little bit of shade to hang out in with the stroller and some towels. After finding a couple interesting things on the shore, including some brilliant stones by Caelan, we decided to hit the trail, the two mile trail. What a fun day and an amazing weekend!
